Good news for fans of Steven Spielberg’s filmography. In the United States, Netflix will add the first three films in the “Jurassic Park” saga to its catalog. It is not yet known when they will also return to France.
In the platform war, Netflix still has something to do with it. While the platform can count on its original productions to keep the competition at a safe distance, the creation of new services from industry giants means a significant reduction in its offer. Reed Hasting’s platform has seen Harry Potter disappear from its catalogue, depriving fans of a new opportunity to revisit the iconic saga. The same is true for Friends, which is expected to be withdrawn in the coming months to join HBO Max (WarnerMedia).
We imagined that the big productions of Warner or Universal Studios would never return to the platform, Netflix gave us wrong. It seems that a compromise has been found
since Jurassic Park will soon make its big comeback. The first three films had already been added last February, then withdrawn in order to land on Peacock. This new SVOD service, launched on July 15 in the United States by the NBC-Universal group, includes the first trilogy in its free offer.
However, she will only be able to enjoy it for 17 days. In the United States, the first trilogy seems to join Netflix’s pay offering again on August 1. It should be noted, however, that the American and French catalogues are very different and that this does not necessarily mean that it will be the same in France. We will therefore wait for the Program in August before rejoicing in the return of our favorite dinosaurs and paleontologists.
For those who have lived in a cave for the past 27 years, Jurassic Park is an adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel of the same name. John Hammond, a wealthy bioengineering investor, manages to bring dinosaurs to life thanks to the DNA of a mosquito preserved in an amber gangue. He decided to open an amusement park on an island off the coast of Costa Rica and called on a group of scientists to get their approval. But when the security system fails, no one is safe and the dinosaurs regain control.
The first two installments were directed by Steven Spielberg, before Joe Johnston took over with Jurassic Park III. Since then, the saga’s universe has continued to grow with the new trilogy – Jurassic World – worn by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead roles. The latest installment is currently filming and is expected to invade our screens in 2021.
