Every week I am delighting in a new form of experiential learning I secretly call "produce peer pressure". It evolves from the experience of walking through the market and bumping into neighbours that shove tomatoes, bread, raspberries into my hands and demand that I 'have to eat said item, because it's so good'. Last week, I bought a pint of golden cherry tomatoes from Grassroot Organics, and ate a lot of them straight out of my shopping bag. Mark, Grassroot Organic founder caught me and said 'that's how I eat most of my meals, straight from the earth as I harvest'. Having conversations like this, with the people that plant, nurture and harvest our food is life changing. It's an experience that can only happen at a farmers' market.
This week we hope you will discover something new, something so in-season it makes your taste buds explode. If you do, let us know, by leaving a note on the 'clothesline', located next to our info booth.
Your enthusiasm for the bounty of fresh foods at our market is so greatly appreciated. Thank you for coming back every week, and telling your neighbours and friends about all the great farmers and vendors.
