The Ice Masters are very supportive of our park, wanting to ensure it is well used and enjoyed by all. They were keen to see the market arrive and have supported us with advice and resources. One of the Ice Masters, Warner Clarke, comes out the market every week to set up a sound stage. He was never asked to do this, he just does. This represents the level of commitment and volunteerism that we continue to see in our community.
WE ARE SO PLEASED TO HAVE THE ICE MASTERS HOST OUR FIRST ANNUAL MARKET CORN ROAST!

Let's do a virtual tour through Fairmount Market to investigate how our produce pair up with corn! If it's blue click on it for a recipe.
P & V Farm: Corn and fruit salsa! Choose any orchard-fresh fruit, mix with tomatoes, onions and garlic. Viola!
Albion Hills Farm - Corn Bread with Pancetta! Albion Hill's cured meats include wonderful pancetta.
Grassroot Organics - Their sumptuous, organic cherry tomatoes and fresh herbs would make a lovely Corn Salad with Fresh Basil. Grab an organic whole chicken on the side! Ha! Meat on the side.
Ennis Maple Syrup - Mouth watering Maple-Chipolte Glaze for your grilled corn!
They only visit every few weeks so STOCK UP!
Little Valley Farm - Take that corn and fruit salsa and serve it on the side of BBQ pork chops. Read more about their Berkshire Pork here.
Crosswind Farm - Corn and Goat Cheese PIZZA! You could substitute the Crosswind Feta, it works on anything. It is staple in our house; tasting perfect on pizza, pasta, salads, and sandwiches.
Wheelbarrow Farm - What could be better than Tony's Pulled Pork on the Bun and a side of our fresh grilled corn? Go for it! Or...if you want to be more creative make something with Tony's unbelievable organic tomatoes. The yellow ones are less acidic and seemed to have a lower water content they would be a perfect fit for this Burst Tomato Galette with Corn and Zucchini.
Highmark Farm - Did you see the radishes last week! They were unbelievable. Perfect for a Corn and Radish Salad with Spicy Lime Dressing.
Fresh From the Farm - Eggs are what they are known for. We just can't get enough. So let's mix up those eggs and add some corn for this Cheddar Corn Mini Quinoa Frittatas.
Blackbird Bread - Simple. Grab a focaccia - buy grilled corn - sit and devour!
Brian Hamlin Honey - A funny conundrum because most honey that you buy in supermarkets is flavoured with "corn" syrup. Not Brian's. If you do want to sweeten your corn try adding honey to melted butter for a treat.
Manning Canning - The wheels are turning. Let's invite Christine Manning to do a preserving workshop for the fall. We could make our own preserved corn! Recipe for preserved corn is on it's way.
Bix Bakery - Okay let's not force a weird recipe here. Just get over to Bix for dessert after your grilled corn!
Tiffinday - Mmmm grilled corn with a side of curry or chat salad. Embrace Seema's vegan inspiration! Have you ever seen Seema's Tedx Video? More inspiration.
Coffeecology - A sustainable coffee, enjoy Colleen's fresh roast at our corn roast!
Abokichi - Crunchy Chili Oil MUST go with corn! Or grab some Onigiri to eat with your grilled corn.
Lazy Daisy - We have heard through the grapevine that Lazy Daisy will be serving soup this week! Cozy up, grab a picnic blanket have some soup and grilled corn while listening to the music.
Village Kanteen - Take some Black Cumin Edamame sauce add to cooked pasta with freshly grilled corn kernels. Viola!!
Moo Milk Bar - The treat the keeps you going...so you can shop away! Perfect dessert for you or the kids.
Andrea's Bakery - Yep. Empanadas and fresh grilled corn.
BUFCO - They are the ONLY ones to teach you how to grow your own corn! In the city. In a box.
*Note: from this list Grassroot Organic, Fresh from the Farm and Manning Canning will not be at the market this week. Fresh from the Farm and Manning Canning come every other week.
If you happen to make any of these recipes share with us on facebook!
Music: Farmers/Vendor Jam
There will be ukeleles, banjo, guitars, drums, singing, saxaphone, harmonica and more...can you guess which farmers and vendors will be on stage? So get ready for a ceilidh style jam.
BYOB: Book Exchange
BUT we are looking for someone to take this over. Means keeping the books, and bringing them to the market each week, setting up the table. We can man the table if necessary. Would be a great volunteer opportunity for a book club!
Set-up, tear-down, help out during the market or even help with word- of- mouth advertising. Super flexible - do what you can. Contact us if you are interested or stop by the market booth. It's fun! It's hard work! It matters to the community.
